I was not saying that, but observing that a poster on another sight popped up in a similar discussion and declared that they had no sympathy whatsoever for the people of Boston because they allegedly funded the IRA and their atrocities over here, through NORAID and reading between the lines the subtext of what the poster was saying was "What goes around comes around".

My guess for what has happened remains an al-Qa'ida inspired home grown group, just like the 7/7 bombers

There aren't any gun law changes. The senate voted them down yesterday. Despite the fact that 90% of Americans, and nearly 80& of republicans wanted these changes, the cowardly senators are too scared of upsetting the gun lobby, because they'll be primaried out of office in the 2014 mid terms.

Even the majority of NRA members agreed with the presidents proposal, but it's not about gun rights, it's about protecting gun sales for the companies.

Actually Karma is not a Jewish, Christian or Muslim concept, it belongs to eastern religions which I do not subscribe to. I was using the term as used in colloquial modern parlance.

A city that allegedly once gave money to a group which carried out atrocities in other cities, it self becomes a victim of a terrorist atrocity.

So karma killed an 8 y/o boy who wasn't even born when the IRA bombings were happening, and a Chinese university student who has no ties to Boston at all were killed, because of Karma?

With the hat of science on, it has no validity either, things just happen for no reason sometimes, although in this case there was a "reason" i.e the motive of the perpetrator.

Going back to Old Testament times, there was a belief that if something bad happened to you then you must have done something wrong, the book of Job is a refutation of that belief. Moving forward into Jesus' time, this belief persisted, if you did something wrong, you would be visited by calamity. Jesus also refuted this belief which you can read in the first five verses of Luke 13

To be even more precise Karma is intrinsic in Hinduism and so called New Age religions where it is intertwined with the doctrine of reincarnation and the wheel of Samsara.

It seems in modern usage Karma has developed into something more akin to the belief in a cosmic "Just Deserts", something that Woody Allen rubbished in his hit film Crimes and Misdemeanour's

Perhaps it behoves us to actually look to the origins of some popular terms that are utilised in modern parlance to avoid possible misunderstandings.
