Do you have a macbook?
I do and I love it.

I have always loved Mac's. I used a 512k Mac plus many years ago, but like a lot of people I ended up using Windows machines for years because of the cost, but I brought a G4 Mac mini and I fell in love with the Mac again.

They boot faster and they do what you want to do quicker and they are competitively priced, although most people don't realise it.

I got burgled in the spring and they took my Macbook and a old HP Windows XP portable and a new Windows Vista machine. Not needing two windows machines I brought a high end spec HP Windows Vista machine costing in excess of Ł950 and my Ł825 pound replacement Macbook is faster and a has more powerful processor.

I love my Mac it does what I tell it to do and it doesn't crash or overheat like the Windows machine.

My next machine will be a Mac.... I will never buy a Windows based PC again for home use.

Limewire isn't illegal, but downloading music and other copyrighted things from it is. I really don't understand why people would want Limewire on their computer anyway, it causes more problems and virus' than its worth.

Was a joke btw. I did think it was illegal though,; why would people have it if they werent downloading music or anything from it?

I really have no idea what else they could download from it, Limewire doesn't have any other purpose anyway. It should be closed down and more people should be made to download legally.

ISP's have started doing checks and if caught downloading illegally then they can close down your internet account with them after warnings.

All though this is going off topic, not everyone can afford the to download music legally, with the amount of music I have downloaded no way would I be able to afford it.

Hmm, that's a good point. iTunes and similar websites should be made to put down their prices to encourage people to download legally. If you have an iPod Touch or iPhone then downloading legally is good because you get the album artwork.

And there is stuff out there that is copyright free other than freeware, i.e some podcasts are available that way.

The press has built up peer to peer networking as some kind of evil being, in fact it is just a way of sharing files that some people have abused.

My theory is don't attack the peer to peer idea, just get the people that abuse it. If people didn't upload copyrighted material then people couldn't download it. Don't punish the downloaders just go for the original up loaders.

I mean, I might be encouraged more, but I would still download illegally.
You can still get artwork on your songs, right click && get album artwork.

If it got to the stage where your ISP were threatening to close down your account with them and you faced a fine, then don't you think you'd be more likely to download legally?

I agree with what Red said, combat the uploaders and not the downloaders. The first best thing to do to stop people illegally downloading would be to enforce sanctions or close down Limewire.

Edit: We could really do with a thread about this in serious debates.
