sounds like they are effectively ending his contract and paying appropriate compensation. They just don't want him around any more

It also must mean that there has been zero interest shown by other clubs

He was forced out !!
The La Liga president made it financially impossible for Barca to keep him .. or buy any decent replacements.

nonesense, the writing was on the wall for years with Barca, and he never once offered to take a pay cut. He kept taking his salary until Barca went bankrupt. That's how much he loved the fans

He even offered to stay and play for nothing but the president ruled it would go against La Liga guidelines

Cavallin says the first of four incidents took place in July 2022.
