Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has agreed in principle to join Arsenal and is set to link up with the Premier League club in the summer, Goal.com UK can reveal.

Arsenal and Southampton were today locked in talks over the structure of the deal, which will be worth Ł10 million including performance and appearance-related add-ons.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s switch will be completed either today with a loan back to St Mary’s until the end of the season or a pre-agreement will be put in place for the teen sensation to move to the Gunners in the summer.

It is understood that Manchester City have been the only club other than Arsenal to table a formal bid for Oxlade-Chamberlain but the 17-year-old was not interested in moving to the City of Manchester Stadium and was concerned by the army of talent blocking his path to the first team.

MEGA FAIL

Fabregas incited the rage of Huddersfield’s fans when he appeared to be trying to get the referee to send off McCombe by waving an imaginary red card at him. Fabregas then converted the penalty that saw Arsenal win 2-1. It was not exactly a good-natured game but events after the final whistle led to Hudderfield Town’s Anthony Pilkington accusing Fabregas of disrespecting two of his teammates by refusing to swap shirts. Pilkington then accused Fabregas on Twitter saying, “2 lads asked him for his shirt and he told them to ***** off!! Sick player but what a tit!”

Arsenal are believed to have been unsuccessful with a bid to sign Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been keen to try and strengthen his defence during the transfer window and 25-year-old Albiol was linked with a move to the Gunners earlier this month.

The Spain international has failed to secure a regular first-team place at the Bernabeu this season under Jose Mourinho after being a major part of former coach Manuel Pellegrini's back four last year.

But with Mourinho instead handing more starts to Pepe, Albiol is believed to be available should clubs make an offer before tonight's transfer deadline.

Reports in Spain on Monday suggested an offer had been made but that Arsenal are unwilling to meet the centre-back's wage demands to sign him on loan until the end of the season.
