i think the observation that social media is giving voice to the extremes and giving them too much attention is correct. A moderate message is just not news worthy any more. What a sad state of affairs

...well I guess that it could be said that we screwed the younger generation over in the referendum...we had the nice things but they can’t have them...so now they’re going to get their revenge and screw us over by taking away the NHS...all’s fair in politics I guess...

This rubbish about the Torys selling the NHS to Trump , is a load of old bollox designed to scupper a Tory win , it would be political suicide for them to do so ,plus aren't some parts of the NHS already in US hands ?

When Brexit happens with Johnsons deal, we'll then face 5-10 years of European trade negotiations. The economy will shrink, and people will lose their jobs. BJ will be desperate to provide some good news, so a trade deal with the US will be the only way for him to do this. The US won't do a deal with us unless they get access to our crown jewel. They've already started selling it off and who exactly is rioting about it? By the time people finally wake up, it will be too late.

Boris Johnson has been part of the party that has destroyed the NHS. It's not immigrants that have done the damage, it's austerity. It's a free country, and you're free to vote anyway you like, but not sure I understand the logic in trusting the party that decimated the NHS with a few more years to finish the job. This is Boris Johnsons most trusted advisor, Dominic cummings

i keep having to say this, but i will say it again as so many seem to ignore it. It was labour that has privatised the NHS the most under Tony Blair. The NHS couldn't function unless it contracted out many of its services.
Also, the NHS uses generic drugs where possible, so they are out of patent by the major drugs companies when the NHS buys drugs. Also, the pharmaceutical companies have a world wide presence already. They are the same ones in the UK as they are in the USA. Drug prices are set by geographical region, not by trade deals. Look at Canada as a prime example, it has a trade deal with the USA but its drug prices are significantly lower than in the USA because it is a different drug pricing region. Those are the facts. American companies can already tender for NHS work in areas that are contracted out. It stuns me how much misinformation there is out there regarding the NHS |

..I have to say that Boris visited a local primary school to me this week and took part in a lesson with the children...having spoken to some of the parents..(..and children..)..that I know from that school, he was really engaging ...obviously, the children aren’t at voting age, but the parents are...and I felt a huge positivity for him....Jeremy Corbyn will really need to step up his game in the hope of a win, if this is the pace that Boris will be adopting...

Yes he was on TV news sitting in a small chair at a small table, one child asked if he ran the world? he said just this country. As PM he is far better than that reserved former PM May. Last edited by arista; 02-11-2019 at 06:37 AM. |

Corbyn has a basic problem, he is not a likeable person, neither was May, not their fault particularly, but Corbyn doesn't help himself. Boris has been perfecting his act for decades, and it really doesn't matter if he lies or talks bollocks if people like him

No secret about the meetings between Britain and the US drug companies, we managed a better deal for the Systic Fibrosis drug than Scotland did in the end. If and when our own pharmaceutical companies can make all the medication we need then by all means buy British. |

And yes, the ball started rolling under New Labour but as I've said a hundred times before on this forum: In huge parts of economic policy, Blair was a neoliberal Thatcherite. Pointing out that "it was Blair!" is meaningless, he was more of a Tory than Major. |
