It's not discrimination, its reality. There is no mandate to make people take the vaccines as it must be personal choice but for those that do there must be some return to the freedoms we used to have.

And that's fine for you then....but for other people who need to see family and friends after a year long forced isolation it's not fine. They have made the decision to have the vaccine to protect themselves and others so there has to be some trade off.

I don't really see an issue in the unvaccinated having freedom too, given the huge majority of them now will be younger fitter people overall, who were quite likely to suffer asymptomatic infection in the first place? And if they spread it to 'the formerly vulnerable'...again it doesnt matter much as those people are now protected? Might be missing something like. But infections..in the UK anyway, are surely not really any concern. Just keep an eye on hospital numbers. Thats what matters now.

My fears is the young folk spreading the new variants around as we simply have no idea how that scenario plays out for us all

Even ol' Whitty is these days conceding that Covid is here to stay and the best we can do is bolster our defences against it (with vaccine programmes, other medical treatments and countermeasures, etc.) and essentially accept that it's a new disease we need to live with.

I guess what has to be accepted is that there is no "next step" - vaccines are the endgame, they are currently the best we can do to tackle a virus, there is no "what next if that doesn't end it"... there is no "next". This is what we were waiting for. Hopefully it will be highly effective in bringing hospitalisations and deaths down to very low levels, permanently. But that's it really, one way or another we have to keep the world spinning .

Plus it's only like 50 years until the whole planet ends 'cos of overfishing anyway so does it even matter that much #seaspiracy.

I don't think anyone is smug, just relieved numbers are falling 3 weeks after schools went back, and the vaccines appear to be working

it's not a competition with other countries Nicky, its a fight against the virus. The world is not safe from covid until every country takes vaccination seriously. The EU have shown themselves to be totally incompetent so far, and they need to improve very quickly
