I agree when it comes to public discourse Redway (twitter and wider social media, and I don't think the press SHOULD do it, but they do) but honestly when it comes to good ol' TiBB these days I find the discussions here more akin to chatter in the home or a bit of workplace gossip.

We're a small anonymous group and the things we chat about here are of no concern to and have no effect on the wider world. It's just idle chatter to pass the time... sometimes it's fun to speculate.

I also don't class these things in particular as "none of the public's business" - I do actually think it's in the public interest for us to know that so many of the very high paid faces that have been all over our screens for decades are just dirty bastards...

Yeah, no, I’m not necessarily saying that the general public has no right to know. I just don’t want the wrong names being tainted with a dodgy reputation based on something that has nothing to do with them. The BBC might never actually name the person and if that’s the case it’ll end up being a case of speculation directed at all the wrong people. It’s almost like when Samantha Womack got subjected to all that abuse in early 2011 (during the baby-swap storyline on Eastenders with her, Kat and Tommy) by people who couldn’t differentiate between Ronnie Mitchell and the actual actress. You don’t want the wrong people to be indefinitely tainted when there’s no way of actually knowing for sure who the perv is.
