I think it means, if your karma on the odds thing is higher, then theres more chance your gonna win.

I think it is the other way? I think it means if you bet on sam! to win, you only get 1 karma if he does win, and if you bet on Salv to win, you get 6 Karma if he does win? Not sure?

Just say someone bet something on you youd get less back because there more likley to win lol.
