Noirin: “Channel 4 are killing the show”
Quote:
Former BB10 housemate Noirin has slammed Channel 4, saying that they they have “killed the show” by covering up racism and bullying.
Noirin was speaking to The Daily Star when she revealed that since the 24-hour live feed was axed, viewers were not really seeing what was going on in the house.
She claimed how two housemates used the “N” word and how one housemate got away with complete bullying, as it was never shown on screen.
She said: “People have said n****r – but the public would never know. They only see what Big Brother wants them to see.
“They have the freedom to do whatever they want. So many things have been covered up.”
Viewing figures have fallen to an all-time low of around 2 million, and Noirin claims that racist comments have been made in the house, but have never been screened to avoid another race row.
Noirin said: “I used the word n****r speaking about myself – but the producers never said anything to me because I am black.
“But my boyfriend Isaac said it once about me as a joke and he was instantly dragged to the diary room.
“Channel 4 has become so PC that they are killing the show. Big Brother has become too safe.
“It’s like a soap opera rather than a reality show. In life there’s racism, there’s sexism and there’s conflict. Seeing how people deal with that is what makes for interesting TV.
“Fans want to see the housemates have rows and they want to see how they resolve them. They don’t want to see Big Brother Brother butting in all the time and trying to play God.”
Noirin then slammed the producers for editing Rodrigo in a good way, despite being the show’s “biggest bully”.
She complained: “He is favoured in the way the show is edited. That boy is the biggest bitch and biggest bully in there. It’s supposed to be a reality show yet there’s nothing real.”
Noirin also claimed that the producers can effectively decide who will win by their editing. “With so little live feed now they can edit the footage to make sure they get what they want,” she moaned.
Despite the accusations by Noirin, a Channel 4 spokesman said last night: “The nightly highlights shows are a balanced and fair representation of events in the house and the viewers choose the winner by public vote.”
They also defended the show’s ratings, saying: “Big Brother 10 has proved to a hugely entertaining series. It has been performing strongly relative to our usual ratings in the slot and it retains a loyal, young audience. It will return next year for Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother 11.”
