Poor Sophie, she should have realised that Marcus' killer karate moves are possessed of pinpoint accuracy and there was more chance of her being struck by lightning than of Marcus making contact when he didn't mean to. Hopefully she has learned something from her mistake. Silly, naive girl.

I agree, i can see that clip once again, he just kinda leap frogged on to the wall..
Marcus is able to leap tall buildings (and high walls) in a single bound. This is a fact.
fact maybe but not a wining formula against non wall leapers like vash and tom.

I refer you to the posts regarding Marcus' unstoppable killer karate death moves.

The thing that made it so much funnier is that Marcus had been feeling humiliated over something. I really can't remember what it was.. Sree outjumped him over the pool or Tom was getting attention (before Tom maybe?)
but,
the point was that Marcus was getting plssy and wanted to be the big man for something scary and hilariously chose to scare Sophie with this spontaneous death kick of doom.
Everyone else's reaction are great. Like looking over and 'Oh.. just Marcus wanting attention.. back to whatever..'.

But that was back when it was still funny to watch him making an idiot out of himself.

Hey Kenny you're back for more ridicule, nice to see you again.

marcus competed in Kumite as in sparring, this is done as part of karate training in several disciplines, along with kata and kihon. All three aspects are practised to varying degrees depending upon the style and rank being followed. Not in THE Kumite as in the international fighting tournament featured in movies by JC Van Damme etc.

I think Marcus would probably make a great psychologist. He is undoubtedly astute enough to diagnose the deep-seated psychological trauma that lurks beneath the obsessive hysteria of one or two members of this forum.

A man of many talents, I feel.

If anything Marcus is too talented, which can lead to jealously by housemates and forum members alike. As astute as he is, I got the impression that he tones it down for that very reason.

Maybe BB didn't make the rules clear to marcus about the Wrestling event.

Obviously from what is being said he was allowed to chop Shi across the throat or take his eye out.

Wrestling+Karate=different contact sports

Now that would be amusing

Marcus:"El Proximo, I gather you hate me with an intensity that borders on the psychotic. Are you that bunny boiler Val from two years ago?"

THAT flying kick was amazing, and shows perfect technique (I know a bit about martial arts)...

If you watch cage fighting you will see that there are often two sides: stand-up and grappling on the floor. Some fighters are great at 'stand-up' but get beaten (sometimes in seconds) when taken down and grappled.

Marcus has not been tested in the BB house on his karate, so we cannot know for sure, but that kick does suggest some skill.

It does show some skill and technique yes. A fact totally ignored by his detractors.

Just rewatched his video and he says he has done Karate. What did you guys think of his balance after the kick though?

I suspect the task was specifically designed to give Siavash his moment to shine. Did you notice how confident he was just before he started wrestling with Marcus? I'd bet money that he has wrestling experience and that BB knew that from the interview process:

i cant see how a wrestling match that halfwit tried to fix and wrestling in baby oil shows how good someone is at karate but his mate on BBLB did say his 100 in a row fight was an exsaguration and it was more like 3 but weather or not he is good at karate he is an excellent hilarious housemate that i want to win

Just wondering. He seems to turn his back to the target too much but maybe that was just because he wanted to face the others. Just wondered if you thought the same.

I think the only thing the video clip of "that kick" proves is that Marcus can jump. Like lots of people who profess to be knowledgeable about martial arts, Marcus talks a good fight.

Mmm. I'm sure he didn't want to really 'target' Sophie. Was just a spur of the moment thing - showing off! In mid-flight he has perfect poise and control, and the kick itself looks the right shape for someone who does martial arts...and he seems to land fairly solid for me. Given his failings at the wrestling last night, I think we can give him an A+ for the kick.
