his exact words in the dr were something like "... now that it's near the end everone has thought about the cash and has decided on what they'd spend it on.... I know I have!!".

marcus is a very complex character, i dont think he does want to go, but i also dont reckon he thinks he has won, i reckon he thinks he has little chance of winning, but he still wants to see it through just in case.he has few redeeming qualities, hes his own worst enemy really, if he changed his attitude more people would like him, he has lots of fans cos hes hilarious, i laugh my head off at him sometimes, but would these fans want him as a friend, i think not,you will now reply in droves to say im wrong, but think about it!marcus, if he stays tonight will come third, and he will be thrilled with that result, im sure.
