Parrallel Lines and Eat to the Beat. Plastic Letters is good too but they're really not in the same league as the Beatles. And there were other bands similar to them during that period anyway.

Oh they can.

The question is: Which one do you prefer? not Which one was more influential or had a bigger impact on music?

So, since it's a question of taste, they can win.

I'm astonished at some of the bands which went through and some of the ones which went out along the way, but I try to look at each vote on it's own.

I did say when GD went out, I wouldn't vote anymore, but Shaun torments me if I don't. He's evil like that.

Lili is right.

I listen to Blondie more than The Beatles.

Plastic Letters is my favourite Blondie album. Yes there were others like them, but Blondie stood out from the rest and have withstood the test of time. So are you saying there were no other bands similar to The Beatles at the time they were around?

Love them both but I grew up listening to The Beatles so my vote goes to them.

Not really no. The Beatles were head and shoulders above everybody else at that particular time, through the variety and wild experimentation found within their music. The were really unlike anyone else at that time and they marked a change in what was possible in popular music, with so many bands owing a debt of gratitude towards them. They gave newer bands the ticket to really open up and try anything.

Blondie were just a part of the new wave and punk bands that were coming out at that particular time and, although they're excellent musicians and had a wonderful lead singer, I don't think you can place them anywhere near The Beatles. And in any case, where the feck are the New York Dolls, Talking Heads, The Ramones, Human League etc etc? Oh, and Roxy Music. They were all of the same ilk as Blondie and many are, in my opion anyway, better.

A little look at the bands they've destroyed along the way...

Blondie: Sex Pistols, Iron Maiden, UB40, Led Zeppelin, Bee Gees, ABBA, Muse, The Cure

Beatles: T. Rex, blink-182, Motorhead, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Nirvana, Oasis, Queen, The Who

True, but then the debate on the topic was expanded.

I personally do not rate The Beatles. I don't really like their music. I much prefer some of the other bands who were around at that time, and had it been my era, I'm pretty sure I'd have been listening to some of the "flower power" bands who were around.

Blondie were punk/new wave. The Human League were a totally different kettle of fish. They were an electronic band who did not use guitars. Early tracks of theirs such as The dignity of labour (parts 1-4)/Being boiled/Introducing were a completely different scene and they were at the forefront of that movement. They are pioneers in their own field as were Blondie.

Blondie are epic.
I'm not a fan of The Beatles, so Blondie.

That's all you're going to say about what I've posted? Human League were still part of the New Wave. What about the other bands I've mentioned? I could give you a fair few more that were similar. And Blondie used synth in their tracks too.

There wouldn't be an ever so slight element of bias in that statement now, would there?
