£20,000 just for a kiss and tell story. This is how greedy we are for gossip. Why can't anybody's personal life just stay personal? We all know nobody should cheat, that's a given, but we have some ***** demanding £20,000 for a story that will ruin his wife's life and possibly his reputation. It would be even worse if he had kids...

Seems to me he ruined his own reputation! She shouldn't be paid for a story - but he should be intelligent enough to know the consequences of his actions! No sympathy for him whatsoever!

Until people learn, that footballers, are no role models, most are high schjool and college dropouts, who happen to be good at football. They will keep replacing captains, for one reaSON or another. FGS, these people arent wonderful people. If they dont cheat, there is something else they do.

Exactly, but it's gonna carry on since footballer's cheating seems to be this year's expenses row. It's a great narrative for trashy tabloids like The Sun to use as most of the stories write themselves.

They'll want us to lose, more money's to be made on negative stories then positive ones. They can turn the players into villains then and then basically slam them for months so they don't have to work hard to cover space in the newspaper. Tabloids are basically a gigantic soap, they'll have storylines, they'll have their heroes and villains and such.

If players want the extra status, money and perks involved in the Captaincy of England - they are obliged to set higher standards - goes with the job - not just about footballing skills - but leadership skills as well. Leadership involves setting examples. They can't have it both ways. If not up to the job - don't apply!

If they was appointing the captain as someone who would be a good role model they wouldn't have gave it to someone that failed a drugs test.
