This whole forum seems to be built around a teenage mentality where popularity contests are all the rage. Ive given up fighting it.

I deliberately decided to stay detached because I dont wanna get sucked into that whole mentality. It can be quite addictive if you buy into it. I have my friends in real life and dont feel the need to look for them on internet forums. Nor do I need emotional support or constant compliments. Some here seem very needy. My presence here is purely for sh!ts and giggles. And to vent occasionally.

I did do the whole friends list and personal pictures stuff at another more adult forum. But here I wanna keep it more casual.

That's where the problem is. Some people take this forum way too seriously.

exactly the same here, i have friends in my life, i see this forum as a nice bit of fun, dont want to get too involved and be worried about my popularity on this...i do think its nice people who do consider people true friends on here though, i just think that a consequence of that are the divisions that grow when people arent all friends

The popularity contest has been around for a while. I first noticed it when people started conjuring up memorable members lists or their best members list. I don't mind any of this but it is just a matter of life.

Also I think it was a fun game Gary has done.. the best member of 2009. It depends how you take it. To me it is all fun and games.

Yeah lol. It was actually the older members who started off all the popularity stuff in the first place and these were also members who were here back in the "good old days". A lot of blame seems to be shifting onto the 2009 members but actually I would say a lot of 2009 members have been good whether I get on with them or not.
