But it's Dave's horse**** and he is entitled to follow his religious beliefs. If gay people want to get married in church there are plenty of denominations that will accommodate them, or they can go the secular route and get hitched in a registry office if they're not particularly religious.

I view this issue in the same way I view gay people who fight for the right to join the army.
Why? A civil partnership is better for both strate and gay people. A church mariage is an outdated concept. |

Lots of people. Take a read of this, it'll really help you out.
http://www.criticalreading.com/critical_thinking.htm This is the best part: Non-critical thinkers take an egotistical view of the world They take their facts as the only relevant ones. They take their own perspective as the only sensible one. They take their goal as the only valid one. |

Interesting how so many bigoted, homophobic, "Christians" rant on and on about how wicked Gays are and quote Leviticus YET that same Levitical Code goes on about only wearing clothes made from a single piece of cloth, not eating pork, shell fish and many other things. Why then do these same homophobes think it's quite OK to ignore the rest of the Levitical Code yet pick out the Gay bit??
It's obvious to me and many, homophobia pure and simple. Dave, for all his hip alternative rantings, is just like the rest of them which is why I am a Pagan and NOT Christian!

The Bible says a lot of contradictory things. As a Christian I still see the Bible as open to interpretation, whether it be negative or positive. My two cents.

One may argue that a Christian has a choice whereas a homosexual may not. I don't necessarily (sp) agree with that as life is not black and white. Many people enter a homosexual lifestyle through choice, many do not. I'm a Christian. I find the whole issue to depend on your definition of marriage. Marriage to me is a religious ceremony where the man and woman agree to cherish eachother in the sight of God and ask God to bless their marriage. Accordingly, a Christian marriage is not something the Church would offer a same sex couple. I believe there should also be a proper civil partnership scheme. If the same sex couple want a christian wedding then I think they've chosen the wrong faith. If you believe the church should be offering same sex marriages then that's up to you. I'll guarantee that most of the people saying the church shoul offer gay marriages are not commited christians or only attend churches for births, deaths and marriages. |
