I was under the impression that Ben admired Archers bounce-back-ability not his literary prowess, which was largely due to the amazing connections he formed while at University and in the early stage of his political career.

Archer is a liar, cheat and a crook with a spell inside to reaffirm his lack of ethics. Bens admiration speaks volumes to his own lack of ethics.

Yes of course The FMs sanctimoniously denouncing Archer, yet backing the repulsive JJ, Nathan, Scabby and Sidekick - what a bunch of hypocrites!- Why not just come out and admit your hatred for Ben is reverse snobbery since the very things so admired in the above-named chavvy specimens, i.e. rebelliousness, rule breaking etc, are derided in those perceived as different by virtue of class or background.

Nobody was saying he was nice - but no denying he is a very successful and clever man - hardly a dork! And, as has already been mentioned, most of those criticising him are the ones who admire the selfish, shallow, unprincipled, totally self-serving - worst of the bunch hms!

I can't think of many FMs at all who would claim to "admire" HMs in the way Ben said he admires oor Jeff.

At most the FMs are talking about enjoying trashy characters on a silly reality TV entertainment show

So they say - but, bearing in mind, the way many react to ex-hms who weren't the nicest of people, and treat them like some kind of big-time celebs - and often excuse the abhorent behaviour of hms whilst on the show - there are many that don't appear to really separate the people from the characters they so admire on a tv show! They don't just appear to find them entertaining as characters - they also seem to find them 'cool' as people!
