A Serbian Film and Cannibal Holocaust in the same day

I think I might just have nightmares tonight

Forget about the twisted individuals who made it; what about the country itself - which has a history of violence and brutality - and the fact that they allowed something like this to represent them on an international level. It's baffling really.

Ok, watched about 10 mins or more now and I actually hate the fact that it's so well made. Something like Hostel I can dismiss, but this has started so well.

Its a very well made film i thought the way it is shot is excellent which almost makes it a bit of a let down that they had to resort to shock tactics when it could of stood alone without feeling the need to not just push the boundaries but attempt to stomp all over them.
There are probably only 3 scenes in the whole film that do this but thats all the film will ever be known for now.

Ok, it's a disgrace but I understand the journey, if that makes any sense?!

I understand a little bit why it was made and what they were trying to say but I still don't accept it.

There's no denying it's powerful though if you decide to view it as an actual film rather than a piece of sensationalism.

Its sickening as you say its a disgrace i just came away from it thinking why just why do that to what otherwise could have been an excellent film sometimes the things we dont see can make a film more powerful than resorting to showing the worst things possible just for the sake of cheap shock tactics.

My big reservation is about Serbia itself, and why they allowed this thing to even be filmed, especially when you consider their history.

Well yeah, the filmmakers were considering their history when they made it and that really gives the film so much power, but at what price?

Seriously, what price? I know what they were trying to say and I think it's an important film in some ways, but I still feel it's a digrace in others.

But then I have to think of my fav artists and they painted bodies, sometimes mutilated. It's a very interesting area. And the newborn porn wasn't too explicit.. well, I lie... it was mental.

But I really think that I still have to digest it completely to fully understand what the story is.

It's sordid, horrific, evil and grotesque.... but it has a point to make both superficially and beyond that.

Still though, it's a disgrace that it was ever made.

Ok, I watched it through now.

It's horrific, it's a disgrace...... but.... but it makes sense in some ways and it's clever too. That's what I hate about it really. It would be easy to despise it but I don't.

It's so bloody well made and it actually has something to say, but I think I'll be one of the few who watches it. Some of the scenes...well

But I'll never watch it again by the way.

I live in Serbia, and I can tell you that the film wasn't even released here, and those who had a chance to watch it, described the film as a disgrace.

And our history has nothing to do with ART. We've had so many great and successful movies representing us on international film festivals, and no one could care less about this film.

Are you sure it wasn't?

And I never suggested for one moment that your history has anything to do with art. I've read your history to a certain extent and that's why I have no idea why this movie was made or indeed financed when I remember what you've had to experience.

I understand how somebody thought the plot up, but I'll never understand how people said yes to it.

Apparently it's so disturbing it's been removed from a few film festivals it was supposed to be playing in.

I'm sure, because I wanted to see it, but they never released it here. I had to watch it online.

And I don't understand why the film was made, too.

Yep, this is from wiki:

'The film was due to screen on the 29th of August at the Film Four Frightfest in the UK but was pulled due to the BBFC making nearly 4 minutes of cuts to the film.'

They probably cut the most disturbing moments.

I probably would not have wanted to have seen any of this film - until this thread has given it so much publicity. A little bit of publicity is better than none. What is the full name of the film?
