Like are they a band themselves or do they just work or feature in other artists/bands songs? I know they've done work with Ian Brown before but i wasn't sure if they actually release their own material too or just work with others.

Basically it's a group but then it has employed a variety of guest artists and producers. The members keep changing. They're brilliant.

Heavy Drug is my favourite. Especially the Surrender sound remix played in Skins 4 (but I knew it before)
