Good luck with that. Cameron is a complete doormat where foreign policy is concerned, particularly in Europe, where most of our immigrants come from, whether from home in Poland or or dumped on Britain from French refugee camps.

Piss taker.

Other counties have to be made more accessible. And the UK has to become a lot more stricter like other countries to scare off immigrants coming here!

enough with this downer crap. I think people who hate their country usually hate themselves and then project. Ive never gotten that impression when travelling abroad. We are viewed as being too close to America by Europeans but I think even then they can see why with the language and cultural similarities. But they don't see us as being truly loyal to europe. Which we're not tbf.

There is a difference between being seen as popular and seen as a cowardly nation though.

I think our ties with the USA don't help that matter as even some English people believe we are their lapdog sometimes.

I would seriously question the mentality of anyone who has been influenced by the talentless little gob****e that is Galliano to think that Hitler is "cool"........... "again".

hmmm, so asking the opinion from people in 16 countries, means it represents the whole world?

Remind me again how many countries in the world there are? So asking only 16? hmmm. a bit of a dodgy poll don't you think. Also this poll was taken by the BBC. A British Government funded media company. I think they might have a dog in the fight. Not exactly unbiased is it?

They didn't ask 16 countries, they asked for opinions ON the 16 countries.

Be careful Arista! I was infracted for daring to suggest that provincials have no perspective on issues or realistic opinions about the world around them. Apparently such an obvious truth is considered an insult.

I still don't think England is what it was. Whatever we have/had, it's still gradually fading. I dread to think what it will be like in 30 years.

no country is what it was. People will still hold on to the same perceptions of us just like we've held the same perceptions of the French and Germans for centuries.

Germany have been castrated military wise since the 2nd world war. France likewise are no longer viewed as a military force because they got pussywhipped in the 2nd world war. At least we still have our military record to be proud of and we aint gonna lose a war anytime soon.

Economically I seriously doubt foreigners keep check of our GDP and then adjust their opinions of us accordingly. So really, our general perceptions of different nationalities is set in stone. We will always like the yanks and the French will always dislike us etc etc. These things never change.

I don't necessarily think the UK as a whole is a weaker Nation but it is and should be a changing Nation.

It's time to realise we don't have an empire anymore, that the Commonwealth that wasa strong part of our identity has all bit gone now too, however as a Nation we can still be influential as long as we stop poking our noses into other Countries as if we were rulers of the World and carried on sorting out our own identity and status now in the modern World.

Within our Country we are worst served not by the population as a whole but by extremely bad politicians, the worst of whom seem to get the most influence and power in politics.
Having said that,as a multi cultural Nation full of diversity and also the means of great success we can still have a very important voice and role in the World,as long we now realise that we cannot go it alone now and that we have to become team players in the modern World. Hopefully our politicians will realise that eventually.

The Great that should be still in Great Britain should now mean the greatness of a bit more humility and learning from other Nations.
Look at the chaos Germany had,it had all the re-unification of 20 years ago,the massive costs and financial chaos that caused them, its history steeped in defeat in the 20th century,it too badly suffered under the recent global recession it is now though a strong example of what good politicians and determination can do for a Nation.

If we start to look at Countries like them and learn too then the UK can and will remain a strong Nation but with much greater respect than it has now from some parts of the World.

I like England. I am proud that I was born in England.

It obviously is a popular place, hence why it is now densley populated.

Some foreigners at work asked me ages ago to name things what I like about the UK/England. They said they can name like 50 things..

One foreigner at work has kept goading on at me.. saying.. "I am not English". << Mmm can't really call this racist. It is kind of like reverse racism. He is being annoying now. 3 days in a row at work he has said to me I am not English. :S

The fact he is making a comment about your racial origin is racist by the definitions of the Race Relations Act, since the comment is designed to upset and harrass you. - report him.

I do see your point, but personally I would report him simply because it is too often assumed that racism is a one way street, and that view should be challenged sometimes. Good luck.
