Lets also remember that CBB9 is coming up sopn, and CBB8 did wonders for 5, so lets hope they can get in some decent celebs so that it can match CBB8s success

This BB is nothing at all like previous BB, a completely different show. I'm a "hardened fan" since BB1 & it certainly isn't wonderful.

It's been much better than some of the recent C4 series. It's definitely good for a start, I just hope for the next series they can experiment further until they get the mix right, bring back the live feed, tone down the editing perhaps - as for this series though, overall I'm rather pleased.

Bad for Big Brother? Yes. Bad for Channel 5? No. Like I said, it's all about audience share, not ratings. Big Brother has mostly been winning its slot. And considering the success of CBB8 before hand, Channel 5 must be smiling.

Different is good for BB, especially at this stage. So again, it is successful if your looking at this series on its own, not comparing it with other series and looking at this series as almost a new tv show. Im not very good at explaining what i mean very well. Hopefully my point got across?? |

People need to not compare this BB with any other BB as its almost a totally different tv show, and on a different channel.

. 1.93 is the highest of the series, would that be in the lowest 5 episodes ever BB1-11?

c5 will be ecstatic with results on a number of levels considering it was a new product to them
the bb product is a viable investment so they will continue with it yes they must make some changes for next year l/f for example is just one

I think the positives have been with the going a bit more minimalist in some ways. 9 weeks is ample, i think they proved you don't need totally over the top lunatics. 15 HMs was ok. You don't need 28 HMs, with triple eviction twists etc.. I think the spin off shows are unnecessary, and should be replaced with a daily live feed show of an hour or two, later at night, and of course a web based 24/7 LF is essential.

Believe it or not, BOTS has also being doing very well, because befpre hand 5* would never had seen 600,000 viewers

It averaged 4.7 million viewers. Hardly a flop lol. Going back to BB on Channel 5 though. No it has underperformed sadly. When daytime soap "Doctors" is getting more viewers than BB then you know its just not working. |

BBBOTS has had surprising good & consistent ratings though.

Overall it's probably done enough to be deemed successful enough. The bigger advertisers are there especially on eviction nights and so I would say they will be content rather than ecstatic at its rating.
They 'know' what to do if they want bigger ratings next year though, bring in much more footage and/or live feed fully or in part. |

BB continues it's inexorable slide. The Producers have a myopic sense of what makes a good HM as evinced by the spooge offered these last few seasons. What, then, will C5 do? Probably more of the same next year. The Club 18-30 format will only draw die hard fans, Endemol have a legal one year remaining so Desmond et al may as well run the effing show into the ground - sad really.

In my own helplessly judgemental way I'm basing the series on those I know who still watch it and those I recognise in the media and to a lesser extent these forums who still watch it.
Whilst a spastic TV argument was always launched at Big Brother it always had a large group of people from respected TV critics to the Charlie Brookers to these odd "you're too smart to watch a show like this" folks who have often passed through these forums who adored the show. These kind of people don't exist anymore. The only people I see watching the show now are relatively young people, relatively stupid people, or people who - and fair enough if that is your thing - never took a vital interest in the integrity of the format and just wanted a show to watch.
