Just finished my Personal Statement today!
I'm going to send off the application sometime next week.
I'm applying to Cardiff, Exeter, Lancaster, Leicester, Reading and Southampton.

Thanks you three.
Okay I'm about to send it to my referee tonight, but I still don't know whether to include sporting qualifications in the qualifications section because thats where all my GCSEs and AS level grades are.
I have skiing, windsurfing and swimming awards and I don't know whether to enter them in or just mention them in my personal statement. What did you do Rebecca?

Okay Rebecca thanks, my referee should tell me if I've made a mistake anyway.
I really hate this system, there's a constant lack of information.

Lucky, our sections are: courses, education, employment, about you, and statement - which is very vague considering the layout that your friends have.

12:21 06 Nov 2006 Your application has been sent to UCAS and will be processed shortly.
After it has been processed and you have received your Welcome letter
(which holds both your application and personal ID number), you will be
able to view your application via ucastrack (the UCAS Applicant Enquiry Service).

It's finally gone! I've been waiting for it to go for a month and it's finally gone today.

Congrats Sol. I've completed 99% of it. Just need my PS to be double and triple checked and it'll be sent away My reference is going to be super cos it's my favourite ever teacher doing it and I do all her chores for her. (Yes I'm her slave) - buuut... anything for a good reference, eh.

My reference was done by my head of sixth-form who recieved mini reference sheets from all my teachers then he compiled it all into one reference. He's okay, so my reference shouldn't be too bad.

What did you put for employment? I left it completely blank as I've never done a day's work in my life!
But I don't think the unis will dislike that too much cos you don't really need work experience to do a degree in History, luckily!

Mine is 100% blank. I do volunteer work, but that can't really be classed as employment, can it?

No I don't think it can, I do volunteer work kind of too, I help in a Year 9 tutor group every Friday morning.
I think it just means payed employment.

Oh dear, doesn't sound good, I was one of the first to send my application to my referee so it's gone as early as possible really, inless I had applied to Oxbridge.

Now there's a massive queue and people who are only just sending their applications to the head of sixth-form now are going to have one looong wait cause my sixth-form is one of the biggest in the country lol.

Haha, I need my PS checked one more time then I am sending it away to UCAS. I'm just part of a local 6th form aswell, so it shouldn't take too long to be checked by a referee and for my reference be made.

My first attempt at a personal statement - I thought it was really good I was proud of it, and my teacher made me cross out most of it and start again, now it just sounds boring and cliche Haha.

Lol, my personal statement was awfully cliched when I did my first draft of it. The first sentence was something like "I am a great believer that in order to understand the future, we must be able to comprehend the past."

I'm sure your's is better than you think.

Same with me, I'm predicted ABB-BBB and this is what I have to get to get in:

Cardiff - AAB
Exeter - AAA-AAB
Lancaster - ABB
Leicester - ABB-BBB
Reading - 300 points (BBB/ABC/AAD)
Southampton - ABB

No space for any slip-ups there!

You are obviously more sensible than me.

The reason why I didn't put a uni / course down that asked for lower grades was because I though that if I did that I may only work towards that level and relax and do maybe even worse!
If I set my targets high and don't let myself relax then I I should keep on the ball and do well. Only a strategy that works for some though.
