I don't like her, but fair play and it is her choice which she feels will help.

Very brave. Good, in a way, she's shared it before the press begin speculating. And of course it will help other women.

Seems like a no brainer, good on her. Reading about what's happened to your mum Vicky has made me wonder how available this surgery really is for the average person...

I know a girl who had this op done too...after finding out she had the faulty gene. I wonder if it's more a postcode lottery where people like Vickys mum lose out due to the NHS Trust area they live in? It's disgraceful if that is the case.

You could be right. From all the Press about it, the general gist is that the op is out there ready for anyone who falls within the criteria to have it done, if having one breast removed doesn't fall within that I don't know what does.

Yes I think so too, it's sad that different primary care trusts can shift the goalposts like they do. It hits the headlines regularly when cancer drugs are available in one area but not another due to cost.
It would be interesting to know exactly what is available and where.

Seems that way as a few people seem to know people who have had it done.

Whats odd is that she was even refused it privately..I always thought that they would do any op you wanted as long as they got cash for it
