Why are you so offended Raph?

I am, without sounding like a cock, very fun and funny in real life. I find it quite easy to make people laugh and Im quite good at breaking awkwardness. Online though I dont really portray it as much and in fairness dont actually find a lot of online humour funny (some people proper 'wail' at some things on here and Im like um ok, hahaha). It might be the same for you.

Ah i've just been so insecure about friendships on here since the whole Mollie thing. I just constantly feel like an outsider, which true, is not how I feel at all outside of this site, but I don't know on here, I just always am insecure, I can't explain it. And then I'm also insecure about being boring and stuff and things like this sort of manifest that to me, as being true. Ah it is silly stuff really, but you can't help but feel that way sometimes, even if you know it's a bit dumb

..Raph, I do talk to lots of people on the forum but I'm the least funny person ever, I don't think I want to be funny either..we are what we are and you're a very sincere person, who I think is a very good and loyal friend..and just a genuinely nice guy who people like talking to and think highly off...but there are different kinds of friendships etc...in real life I have some friends who make me laugh a lot and others that I have deeper conversations with, I think we all do and they're equally our friends..I wouldn't be offended or hurt if none of my friends thought I was funny/made them laugh..I do understand that maybe certain things here have made you sensitive but honestly not being a 'banter' person doesn't mean that someone doesn't think highly of you...maybe that's what Drew meant...?....

...but I hate that you feel like an outsider...I( expect you in the Bay chat thread at 7pm GMT and if you don't make me laugh within 15 minutes, you're off my friendship list..ok..?....

like to me proper banter is just back and forth, and you don't have to worry about people misinterpreting you, or getting offended, or asking you to explain everything about what you say. It just flows.

It's like 100% on the same wavelength. I definitely don't have that with anyone here. not even Lee who i've talked with with the most, i still have to measure my words somewhat.

I do feel like i have to second guess everything i say on this forum, what other ways could this be interpreted, who might report me if i say this...i never feel 100% comfortable just having banter on the forum.

..you're right Alex and if I'm honest..?..it's only recently that I've started to understand when you're serious or joking, I probably don't always get it right either, not only with you but others as well...I think that's the thing about the internet and forums, well for me anyway because I've never done facebook/msn etc..I'm only on a few forums and only for a few years..so maybe there's some sort of 'internet code' that I don't know about when you can tell how a comment/post etc is meant...

..I'm also of a different age to most people on TiBB, and also maybe sometimes a different humour..?..although what's helped for me is that I have children who are similar ages to a lot of TiBBers, and spent years around them and their friends/partners etc...and sometimes I'll even ask them to explain something I might have read on TiBB..a phrase/terminology etc that I haven't understood but felt stupid asking...I remember putting my foot in it once with something a member said and it was a sexual term that I had never heard of and I took her post in earnest and really felt dumb...

..anyeay, I'm rambling lol...(I do that a lot..)...one of the things that has helped me a lot to get to know people in general better..(including their humour..)..is to chat to them on their walls...maybe sometime, even with time differences etc...I'll get a chance to chat to you...I would really like that...mind you, I will say now..I'm not funny....
