Well, she "won" him away from the one before her so she probably knows the score. Anyway it seems they are not the only two, now three, who have been after a bit "extra".

Some people do have on-off relationships or "take a break" during which they see other people.

It happens, and everyone should be adult enough to handle that, IMO.
