Don't think he was really taken seriously then, but his last two films have been big hits and critically acclaimed. Not really fair to judge him on a crap film that was released 10 years ago when he just won an Oscar 6 months ago.

Nah I mean the guy was given this 'big new name' status when Pearl Harbour came out and ever since then he's mostly just appeared in utter crap films playing crap characters. I think he's better off camera than on it, in all honesty, he seems to have a knack for writing and directing, he ought to stick to that.

But he just won an Oscar for a movie he Directed AND starred in.

And according to this - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/n...gue-movie.html - there is a chance he will be directing the Justice League movie that he'll also be starring in as Batman.

Yeah but he was in control of the role he was playing because he directed it. He's good at writing and directing. He's not a good actor. Like with any actor or actress, there's a 50/50 chance he'll be good or bad in the role - just with his track record, I'm expecting it to be bad.

Why have an old guy play Batman and one that is as awful as Affleck?

Ben is going to be 45 when the Justice League movie comes out in 2017.

I don't get it.

Ben Affleck just doesn't seem like Bruce Wayne/Batman to me. I was not a fan of Bale's Batman, but he was an excellent Bruce Wayne. I can't see Affleck doing either well, but you never know.

I wonder how they are going to do this Superman/Batman movie. In all the comic storylines with them together Batman was almost always played off as the somewhat bad guy. I wonder if they are taking a similar route.

I just wish they could somehow re do the Batman Dark Knight movie and make it half as it good as it could have been (being based on the GOAT Batman storyline).

Bryan Cranston would make a fantastic Lex although I hope that someone else is the main villain as Lex has been done to death. They should just stick to introducing him in the next film and not have him be a villain just yet.

Not sure what movies you've all been watching, but Bales batman was the best ever and the most successful series of films. Kilmer was too dull, Clooney just didn't work, chris odonnell was woeful as robin....But bales trilogy has been fantastic

The most successful ever, both critically and financially.
The support cast with caine, oldman, freeman
also other superb actors, liam neeson, tom Wilkinson, rutger hauer, anne hathway, heath ledger, aaron eckart, eric Roberts, tom hardy, matthew modine...all superbly directed by Nolan. If theres a weakness id say more female characters are needed.

Theres different ways to play him, I do agree keating was superb. But in terms of the movies, this trilogy was epic. Bale is possibly the best actor in the world right now. I love the bloke.

Nolan is one of the most overrated directors out there. Only Memento was halfway decent. The movies did have a good cast, but poorly executed. Batman Returns was the only enjoyable one for me out of the three. Sorry, I can't go from watching the greatness of Jack Nicholson's Joker to the crap Nolan put out. Michael Keaton was a much better Batman than Bale.

The Dark Knight Trilogy weren't successful because of Bale, they were successful because they were well written, well made and well acted. CB is often seen as a weakpoint of the series, his portrayal just wasn't that engaging and he got overshadowed by pretty much everyone.

true enough, but my dislike of them goes past Bale. In my opinion Nolan's whole take on the Batman movies was terrible. He tried to go for the noir and "realism" vibe, but that's not what I want out of a Batman movie.

The cast was okay, but not as good as say, Tim Burton's Batman movies(the best ones). The characters were also nowhere near as good. Ledger's Joker was okay, but was nothing compared to Nicholson. Hathaway's Catwoman was terrible, Bane was almost as bad. Scarecrow and Two Face were the only Nolan villains I liked.

Overall Burton's movies were more fun and enjoyable, while Nolan's attempt at making a more serious movie just left me bored. Nothing will beat the greatest scene in cinematic history when Nicholson pulls out an 8 foot long bazooka out of his coat pocket. Truly amazing.

I disagree with much of these points.
The previous Batman movies were mostly over the top farces. Though I agree Nicholson was better Joker than Ledger. Lets face it, Nicholson is the best, the man is pure genius.

As for this Batman trilogy, the most successful ever financially and critically, one of you seems to be saying the credit should go to the directors and others say it to the special effects, others to the supporting, but none to Bale? That's absurd.

Bale tour de force was Batman Begins. An absolutely superb movie. Brilliant story, brilliant acting, brilliant how the suspense grew and grew throughout. It was paced to perfection.

Then the next 2 movies, Batman was in it far less and the movie became far more about the villains and the action. that was the studio and the directors choice to move it forward. That was a mistake imo. Batman is the man and he should have driven the movies. Still both films were terrific imo and Bale was superb as he always is. In fact it would be just terrific if Bale played a villain in a future Batman movie, no doubt there would be a load of in jokes too "I know how you think batman"etc

Christopher Nolan's Batman films are brilliant. Previous Batman films have either been crap or campy. Nolan's films had this gritty realistic feel to them which personally I liked. Characters you could understand.

as we speak christian bale is knocking on bens door with a bunch of huey lewis records and a chainsaw lol

i think he will be fine lets face it batman is a easy job no acting skills required. surprised bale done it as he is a amazing actor. though if i was ben i would turn it down. he dont need the risk when he is doing ok finally.

It's the Anne Hathaway thing all over again. Everyone will love him once it's released and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Also Nolan's Batman trilogy is probably the greatest trio of superhero films of all time. The Burton ones were good but pretty naff and campy looking back. And Schumacher's were just a mess...
