No, because then it would go straight on the black market and make it more dangerous.

What about just making it illegal to drink in public places?

I think it already is, in many parts of the country.

Then it would more than likely seriously damage the local economies of most of the big cities in the UK, that rely on people coming in and out of the city.

It would also really affect the communities in villages, and "the local" would disappear. That's a terrible thing to happen in itself.

America tried that, remember, it was called Prohibition. It failed miserably, and America became a much more lawless country as a result.

In the UK any group has a right to peaceful protest, I wouldn't like to try doing the reverse of this in the Middle East though. But isn't that part of what makes this Country great? and what people died in World Wars for, freedom of speech?

I wish these people would **** off because it always paints a bad picture of a Islam and fuels the stereotypes people believe as seen in this thread

Dilemma for me here... I personally believe the world would be a better place without alcohol (that is to say, if it just didn't exist, and never existed in the first place.. it's so ingrained now that prohibition would cause all sorts of problems) but then... I also think the world would be a better place without organised religion.

I guess if I was to attend this demonstration, I'd just have to stand in the middle screaming "STOOOOOOOOOPPPPPP", aimlessly into the void.

Why should we adopt to their practices?

If they don't like the laws and way of life in this country then they are as free to leave it as they were to enter it.

I wonder if Smeagol wanted all Christians deported from America when those fundamentalists assassinated abortion doctors

There are wackos in all religion, stop simply targeting one of them

No, crazy extremists are the root of all evil.

Religion can do a lot of good for people. It's the greedy evil people who take religion amongst other things and twist it to their own ends.
