it doesn't take away the fact that he always helps him out, it actually shows a lot of common decency. I think gary annoys them all in there to an extent and I'd bet money that he'd annoy the majority of this forum if they were in there too, but james has shown that he's willing to overlook that despite how annoying he might be at times.
