Yeah obviously but my point is that in general just as it is with Americans it does seem to be socially acceptable to rib the French in this country.Calling them slimy and frogs etc and going on about how they surrender.Just listen to Al Murray as an example.

Tbh I don't see the difference between calling someone “The African” and then someone else “The American” as they're both clearly being used in a derogatory way?

The OP just said that if somebody in the house was derogatory towards someone of a different race, they'd be pulled up on it. The principle still applies, regardless of whether a group of people have faced widespread oppression or not. Referring to Americans in a derogatory way because they're American is xenophobic.
