'More than 1,400 suspects have been investigated by police looking into child sex abuse allegations against VIPs including politicians, celebrities and institutions.
A national police group, known as Operation Hydrant, released the figures at a briefing on its inquiry into possible links between child sex abuse investigations involving public figures currently being run by different forces across the country. Chief Constable Simon Bailey, chair of the group, told the briefing that out of 1,433 alleged offenders identified nationwide, 76 were politicians, 43 were from the music industry, seven were from sport and 135 were from the TV, film or radio industries. Some 216 are now dead.' http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2...-abuse-inquiry

A boy I used to be friends with's father was accused of being part of a paedophile ring a few years ago, allegedly abusing a disabled girl along with some police officers and other public figures in the local area. It was never proven and I've no idea whether there's any substance to those claims but it's certainly not new to hear about institutionalised sexual abuse. I suppose it's a good thing that it's being investigated en masse?

Tom Watson raised the issue of peadophilia within Westminster during televised PM question time some time ago, that thrust institutionalised abuse into the media spotlight.

'The independent inquiry into historical child sexual abuse in England and Wales has opened, nearly a year after it was first announced.
It will examine how public bodies handled their duty of care to protect children from abuse. Justice Lowell Goddard, who chairs the inquiry, is summarising how it will be run, including timescales and the areas of public life that will be examined. She said sexual abuse of children had left "scars" on victims and society. The inquiry was first announced by Home Secretary Theresa May in July 2014. It followed claims of a high-level cover-up of child sex abuse involving public figures, including politicians'. Great news. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-33442588

![]() Information provided by alleged child abuse victims to the overarching inquiry set up by Theresa May has been deleted due to a blunder, it has emerged. Submissions sent through an online form to the inquiry between 14 September and 2 October were “instantly and permanently deleted” on Thursday before they reached staff. The information had been sent to the “share your experience” section of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse (IICSA) website, set up for victims and survivors wanting to share their experiences with officials working on the probe. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/...ntally-deleted

the fact that the rich and powerful will never be caught, it is the slum dogs that get caught, I read two books about fred and rose west, and their is information that was never brought out after 15 years, both killed alot more than 12, women and young girls, in the book they made snuff videos, with girls and women being raped and tortured to death, fred sold them to powerful people for 150 pounds which was a good bit of money at the time, they even had a brothel upstairs and they had a client book that had names with people in high places of society, for a reason the police said that they had lost it, what the mp said is true, it runs far deeper, F an R west weren't just some inbred hillbillies with a sick fetish fantasy, but they where the slum dogs who where not that powerful enough to be protected, fred west took 90 percent of his secrets to his grave, which means no cans with worms will be opened.

Update..
'The independent inquiry into child sex abuse in the UK is to focus on the Anglican and Catholic church, local councils, schools and youth offender institutes and prominent figures in Westminster politics. Outlining a dozen lines of inquiry which will each hold public hearings with victims, witnesses and experts, chair Justice Lowell Goddard said churches and councils in Lambeth, Nottinghamshire and Rochdale would be among the first areas investigated. The investigation was set up last year following claims of a high-level cover-up of abuse and has been beset by delays following the resignations of two previous chairwomen. It will be Britain’s largest-ever public inquiry and is expected to take up to five years and cost tens of millions of pounds. Goddard said high-profile allegations against “current and former MPs” as well as “members of the intelligence and security agencies” would be included in the inquiry, adding that “allegations of a cover-up” in Westminster would be investigated. She said: “The investigation will focus on high-profile allegations of child sexual abuse involving current or former members of parliament, senior civil servants, government advisers and members of intelligence and security agencies. “It will consider allegations of cover-up and conspiracy and review the adequacy of law enforcement responses to these allegations.” The investigation will also focus on child sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches following a series of scandals involving senior clergymen, she said, adding that regional centres for victims to come forward would be set up next year.' http://www.theguardian.com/society/2...nd-politicians

Knew nobody affected would get any justice...
'Police forces around the UK should save money by cutting back on investigations of historic child sex abuse, a Conservative peer has said. Lord Lawson, who was Margaret Thatcher’s chancellor in the 1980s, said the police should not complain about a lack of resources for security work while the probes were being conducted. “Security is essential. It's vital. But I think the police are complaining a little bit too much,” he told BBC One’s Andrew Mar Show on Sunday. “Look at how much the police is spending now on chasing up often unsubstantiated accusations of historic sex abuse. “That's got nothing to do with security. Those resources should be put where the need is." The Daily Express newspaper reports that the costs of such investigations around £3.4m, a relatively small portion of the £8.2bn 2015-16 central government police budget. The Government is making cuts of £300m to this amount in a year, according to figures from late 2014.' http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...-a6745126.html
