Those pictures look vile.

But this doesn't affect me, anyway. I've never brought pre-packed sandwiches from any supermarket ever, and don't intend to in the future.

I make my own homemade sandwich, if I want to have outside the home.

Plus, why is there so much mayonnaise on that sandwich? Nasteh!

I had no idea these type of things were still put together by humans

Technology needs to put some more people out of work already

The article gives you the impression that it's the foreign people who are unhygeinic which I think is unfair. I bet it's mostly the British people who don't use gloves

They're supposed to be wearing gloves when touching food.

It's not good enough. At our factory we always wear gloves when touching food.

Pre-packed things are generally pretty rank. However, to play devil's advocate here, I worked as a chef (in a student pub - finest burgers, fish and chips, bangers and mash and macaroni cheese in town ) and you don't wear gloves working in a kitchen, you just frequently wash your hands and have to be careful not to cross-contaminate or touch yourself. On the face / hair / clothes obviously. You have to touch yourself "in that way" sometimes, or you wouldn't be able to make the special sauce.

When you go to a nice restaurant, do you imagine that the chef and all his or her minions wear gloves while they sort out your dinner? No. So long as their hands are washed properly, I don't see a problem.

When was the last time you yourself wore gloves to make someone else a sandwich?

Anyone preparing sandwiches need to wear gloves and to change those gloves when dealing with different cooked meats too.

No risks should be taken whatsoever in the case of food preparation, washing of hands is not enough, you couldn't be sure whether the hands were washed thoroughly or if it was a quick rinse under the tap.

Again I say,if I was buying a sandwich, it would have to be one I could see being made and if anyone prepared a sandwich for me not wearing clear gloves, then no way would I touch it.
Food hygiene is to important to take even the slightest of risks with.
