I think it's more what it symbolises. Nick is supposed to think he's in the golden team. He's supposed to vote the way they want him to vote until they're ready to put a bullet in the back of his head. Nick isn't playing ball right now ergo he's a two faced dick and the golden team are nothing but flawless perfection.
