hmm that isn't really a direct equivalent I don't think? Like, just about everyone takes the SAT or the ACT but those aren't really all-encompassing and are just about aptitude and reasoning. APs are more subject-specific and are pretty much first semester college classes taken at the high school level, but not everyone takes AP classes and exams and they're really only necessary if you're trying to get into an Ivy League school or something.

RE was easy because it was basically giving your opinion on stuff and you got marks from throwing in references and terms.

I was surprised I did well in RE for the real thing. I remember getting D's/E's in like every mock we did in Year 10/11

Then I came out with a B in the real thing. To be fair, I didn't revise for RE once in the entire two year course.

That's the only reason why I got A* in it tbh

I revised quite a bit for it though because it was easy to get a decent grade if you put the effort in.

On my first paper I misread an 8-mark question so got no marks for it (you can only lose 8 marks on each paper if you still want to get an A*), so I was proper sweating the second paper but luckily I did enough to get an A* still

We did a short course in year 10, the exam was in January. I was told I wasn't able to retake because we didn't have enough time

I also got an E in citizenship because we had 7 different teachers. My school was crap.

I got 10 GCSE's overall though.

A-Levels are a HUGE step up from GCSE's. I went from having A*/A grades at GCSE to having C/D grades at AS Level

(although I fixed that in the A2 year). Be prepared gurls

Yeah, I was told that a C/D at a level is the equivalent to an A* at GCSE lmao

but I got A*BB at a level, so I blame the teaching imo

Yeah, there is a huge difference. I'd say A-levels in some cases are even harder than degrees.

There are certain things you can slack on in school and just wing it and come out fine but if you try that at A-levels you won't get away with it.

Your grades will suffer.

I absolutely detested A Levels and everything about college. I enjoyed school and uni but college was so dull and A Levels just painful.

Luckily I got what I needed to go do my degree and then education was interesting again.

I remember we did all of the English/English Lit coursework in year 10 so we could focus on the exams in year 11.

Our teacher said there would be some time to refine coursework that we hadn't done our best on at the start of year 11.

Yet over the summer they changed teachers and the new one was like "Nope, it's all done you're not touching it now". Like ****ing bitch!

We had that as well. We also did that for History Coursework.

omg the same happened to me with maths. I did it in year 10 and I got a C. They told me I could retake and go for higher, but then when it came round to it I wasn't allowed

It's so unfair. If that happened today I'd be like all over the headmaster's office like "I'm suing for false advertising!"

But there's a story I wrote for one of my English coursework pieces and I got an A* on it. I was so proud, I still have a copy of it somewhere.

omg the false advertising thing, I did ICT and I worked my ass off trying to get an A*, but for some reason it was capped at a double B. I was so pissed. So like, however good you did, you can only pass with a BB. Like what was the point.

I remember my science teacher not allowing me to retake my Science Coursework (worth 25%) because I just scraped a C (you needed below a C to re-take), yet I was one mark above a D and having the chance to retake.

I was clenching my teeth and saying "LET ME EFFIN RETAKE!". In the end I was stuck with a crap grade which brought my overall Additional Science grade down. Bitch.

Because I loved writing stories and I still have it somewhere.

Probably the only piece of coursework I sat down and started doing a reasonable amount of time before deadline and enjoyed doing it.
