Well Paris Hilton certainly isn't one of them.

Probably people like Kylie, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Aniston and Beyonce. All civil women who haven't taken their careers for advantage and have each truly worked their way to the top, through it all.

I wasn't saying there wasn't any. I was just making an observation that not many people had listed males.

Jesus Christ? Lets not go there.

Che Guevara? Are you serious? A serial killing 'revolutionary' a good role model to our children?

Anyone who is well known for doing something worthwhile - whether it be entertainment, sport or anything else.

And not just famous for being famous (yes, Jade Goody I'm talking about you).

If you are going to get famous because of a reality show at least show some sort of good example.

Absolutely. Guevara championed freedom, something which would be very welcome in this country.

Championed freedom by killing in excess of 1000 people.
He also championed murder and hate!

I definitely think Che should be taken from that list of people to be role models.

No he shouldnt.

When you are fighting a war, blood must be shed.

Churchill ordered the deaths of many Germans in the the second world war, yet he is the most admired Briton.

So you agree with Osama Bin Laden? Al-Zarqawi? Mullah Omar?

Hey! Lets put them on the list too.
Infact, Hitler wasn't too bad of a man either.

See my point?
(By the way, not purposefully causing an argument with you - I'm just dead cert against Che being on that list)

I know the point you are trying to make, but you are coming from a completely biased 'western capitalist' point of view.

Osama Bin Laden is a hero to many people.

No-one objects to David Beckham being on the list when he is actively funding the slaughter of Iraqis in this very age.

I object to him being on the list because he can hardly be classed as the educated male I'd want my children to grow up to be.

There's a difference between passively funding and actively slaughtering, however.

Any 'celebrity' who continues to exploit the British capitalist society and contribute to its economy whilst we fight an un-just war is absolutely guilty.

It shows supreme cowardice, and the age that we live in provides no good role models via popular culture, if they are making money from it, because our economy is currently funding the slaughter of Iraqis for the benefit of America.

How about we agree to disagree?
You've made some good points but no matter what you say it's not going to change my opinion on whether Che should be considered a role model or not.

Good debate though

He's talking about him feeding the capitalist society and thus funding the Government "machine" that is currently waging war against Iraq.

Thats fine, but I was just pointing out that everybody has 'skeletons in their closet', particularly when theyve had to fight a war to liberate their countries people, but if you want to stick to 21st century 'celebrity' dumbos as role models thats up to you.

Oh, William Wallace was a murderer too. He's another role model.
