I think wanting to be thin and wanting to be healthy are too different things. People can still be healthy and eat alot of different foods. Models which battle it out to be come "size zero" are very stupid. People who promote this size 0 thing as a fashion are pathetic. Size 0 is not a healthy size to be nor does being thinner make you a prettier/better person.

Blame the media and the fashion world... They wont change tho because more women want to be thin and that fuels the fashion world which goes through the media... to the eyes of a young girl and the trend never ends.

no that's glib and simplistic mate..
break the cycle by building young girls confidence and self worth so they are immune to trends and that kind of desperate need for acceptance. Of course most girls are fashion conscious but there is something missing in a girl that will go to such length to be liked or loved. Maybe someone closer should be providing that instead of faceless fashion conscious strangers.

Whats fashion consiciuos got to do with being skinny? Models may been skinner but it doesn't make clothes any more pretty because of whose wearing them.

Skinny is too skinny when a person is unnaturally unskinny.

It won't work in todays world.... unless things change from both sides top to bottom but i doubt the fashion world/media will change but a true mix of women shapes and sizes in magazines etc would help... But there is no money in that, thin=money! If the big players won't change then many women will always fall victim to the lies.

Because they were insecure in themselves, and they don't feel they had enough control in their life and they only thing they could control was what they ate. Bullies are a problem as well, one bad comment can do havoc to someone ones self-esteem.

So your talking about just a small factor of the skinny issue... The image of a super skinny model will do more damage to a young mind, that changes their views of how normal women should look and do look apart from them. That then leads to other problems and its not just young teens because even older women fall for the lies... Money!!! Huge factor. Women wanting to be thin to feel better about themselfs is worse with what you have said... The body image victim is on the rise... Size zero for adult women????

yeah I'm with on this andyman ... it's the media PLUS the low self-esteem.... the self-esteem and pride for themselves is something they ought to get from those closest to them. Princess the way I see the media/advertising etc is that want to sell you something whether you need it or not ...so they do their best to tell you why you NEED it ie "your fat and ugly etc". It's called "creating a demand" ...AD people do it all the time. Strong and confident girls would be immune to that BS ...most girls and women are not ... my problem is that some take it that next step. They believe that they look ugly with ANY fat so they waste away. Even if they don't die they have all manner of physical problems for the rest of their lives.

Anyway I think all 3 of us are pretty much agreeing with each other anyway ....and for me and andy that's a first hehe

Honestly, all the images shown in today's media on magazines and such are all too thin.

A girl setting a goal to be as skinny as those models who have obviously been photoshopped is impossible and will lead them to anorexia/bulemia/eating disorders as well as possibly combining it with extreme exercise.

Thin is how a girl naturally is. They should still eat healthy, but not to the extent as to putting their own health in jeopardy for appearances.

Its partly to do with media and partly the way women think in m opinion. You open a magazine and Wham! ll the models are stick thin. All the celebs are either way to skinny or dropping weight in a bid to become sexy.

As girls grow up they are bombarded with the notion that thin is beautiful. Most people can be their own judge of whats best for them but for some it has to be skinny or nothing and I believe that the media and celebs play some part in that obsession.

It doesnt help the fact that the trash mags like heat and such follow celebs around and analyse their weight and diss them if they gain a few Ibs and congratulate when they go super skinny

It depends on the person. I mean I've got a friend who is a size 6 but can fit into a size 4 (American size zero) but she isn't some super skinny annorexic with all her bones sticking out and has a pretty decent figure, its not like a pencil. But for me, I wouldn't say size 12 was fat like some people think it is.

Most men like a curvy woman, well i do but women seem to think that any fat on their body is ugly and is wrong... Well its not! The female magazines dont contain real women, all are changed with using computers to change skin tone, lumps n bumps, lines, waist size, hips.... The model does not even look like that. Also men are having the magazines point at them, they should have a six pack and also a six pack in the fridge etc etc.... Not everybody buys into the BS but those that do will never be truely happy.

I hate how the media perceive thin women as beautiful, I think really thin people aren't attractive at all, BECAUSE of their weight. I like my women curvy in al fairness.
We have the modeling sector to blame for all of this.

Is it natural for a adult female to be a size 6?... Which is rare but the fashion snobs make it the holy grail.

Too thin for me would be when someone can put two hands around your waist and the hands touching eachother. Or what I call size zero.
How can someone be size zero, I mean it's obviously not supposed to be a size because it is called size ZERO.
When you fall over and break your leg, you know you need to head straight to Mc Donalds and then to Greggs!!

I think there is no too thin, and no too fat. It's what suits you really. Like, Marilyn Monroe was size 16 and had a BEAUTIFUL body, and then others say Kate Moss does
Whatever suits you, really.
I don't really like looking at people's bones though. :yuck:

i'm sorry but whoever wants to inspire to be a size zero needs there head screwed on as whats wrong with being the average size and having a few extra pounds is it because the boys/men will look at you more cos if you ain't got no tits and no arse then no, women are meant to have a curvy figure and have breasts and arse but when i see other women who look so thin you can see all the bones sticking out i find that revolting and these size zero celebs such as victoria beckham are all of the teen magazine so children young as 9 think that being a size zero is cool i'm actually sick of it as it's not healthy.
