Tanser, when I read your original post I was somewhat enraged by it but decided not to post. Much of what you state is a somewhat romantic view of the west's influence on the rest of the world.

We, the people of the west are innocent. Our governments, on the other hand, are not.

That's basically what i was saying, how can anyone be sure of anything if it's secret! I'm one of them people who doesn't believe untill it's in black and white.

It's being made out though by some people that we as British are exactly the same as our governments and there views and it is so far from the truth.

I agree with a number of your points, but you seem to be singelling out the British/Americans as causing EVERY problem in the middle-eastern world - you can't expect that to wash well with us, when the main problem is our corrupt government and not the everyday people of our country. JUST like in arab countries! The problem is with their government, not the everyday people living in those countries.
