I think they took a huge risk for BB5 and it really paid off! I might go as far as saying it saved a sinking ship

Agreed. It was a huge risk, which is why Channel 4 will never do such a thing like that again because they are ashamed, in some aspects, of BB5! This is why the BB6 and BB7 advertising campaigns have been toned down completely, and why the housemates are quite slopy and unspectacular nowadays.
Evil Big Brother is what made Channel 4 ashamed, because it looked lame, ridiculous and just exaggerated, especially with Black Friday.
Not just the advertising, but the show itself made them the producers ashamed (Kitten's constant rule-breaking, Fight Night, Nadia). This is why Channel 4 revealed that BB6 wouldn't be as evil as BB5, and wanted a "happy-go-lucky" theme, with a little bitchiness and unlucky twists galore too.

Wait a second i didnt say that, i think BB5 was really good and i completely don't think they were ashamed of Black Friday, I think it was the best campaigning for a series.
I don't think its fair to say they were ashamed of Nadia.

They toned it down because they didnt want fans to get bored of the same old , same old,

I completely disagree

I know it was a great series, and the advertising campaign was good, but it was so big and explosive that they are ashamed.

I dont agree, i dont think they were ashamed at all, i wouldnt call it explosive in a bad way, its what made one of the best BB's in many peoples eyes.

Oooh! its on digital spy forums so it must be correct. Views of a minority doesnt make it true. I dont think they were ashamed of their advertising , its a stupid thing to say really. They needed a series that would bring them above water again, and now they are above water they arent over advertising, i think they just wanted to make BB5 a great series which is why they did it

No. I was just refering to DS, and how most of them thought C4 was ashamed. Don't take it personally lol.
BB5 was a fabulous though, but if lots of people think it is the best, why is BB3 the highest rated series?

You rather annoy me at times, having to always be right with everything. I said lots of people find it is the best series not all the people. Just because BB3 was the highest rated series doesnt make it everyones favourite. Just look at BB4 launch , it was the most watched launch , doesnt make it everyones favourite launch show though does it.

Sorry if I come across as a goody-goody. I am just quite curious sometimes, to the point where I become too outspoken.

Whoopsey, I forgot to shut up.

That's exactly my point and I think we're all getting really excited now and then as soon as it starts we're all gonna be bitterly dissapointed!

This year could be boring people. I read this year that they are calming people down because of the race row.

Im not a big believer in the whole refraning from natural feelings of excitement thing just to purposefuly underwhelm myself and be excited when it actually starts. If it sucks - its going to suck either way. At least the build up would have been exciting.
