My brother met his 3rd wife on the Internet, lasted the longest of them all.
Rules in my house is if you are visiting then you only answer your phone in emergency, or say hi and bye I am busy. No phones allowed at the table. The Internet is wonderful though. Personally it is a blessing for me as I can do all or most of my shopping online, keep in touch with friends and family far and wide and of course see what the wonderful world of TIBB are up to

i think the internet has an adverse effect on social interactions. Keyboard warriors hide in anonymity spouting bile and hatred that they would never be able to get away with face to face.

But isn't that a good thing? It takes away the physical violence. It gives nerds the chance to mouth of to brute thugs without getting beat up.

I see it like this, as we keep going forward we leave things behind.
We have made drugs better at saving lifes, we have also made weapons that are better at taking them. |

I think that people with addictive personalities will probably not socialise as much anymore as they start living out their fantasies on the Internet where they can't be judged on their real personal lives, or have their face put to it either (unless they choose to of course) but I doubt anyone would do that if you want attention about "what do you look like?" type of posts that you see on places such as Social Media.
But yeah I think it's easy to moderate yourself on the Internet if you don't get addicted to things too easily, and then due to getting bored I have seen people make up false stories about themselves to get attention because they think that they have nothing else to do, it's sad really. And on a more serious note someone died from being too addicted to the Internet, here's the link http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-n...-after-6373887 I know it's not the Internet such as a Forum, but it's still going online. And I thought that I was addicted to Video Games, but he wasn't having enough exercise due to his accident so he should've been careful to make sure that he was getting enough exercise. Oh and there was a case of a baby starving to death aswell here's the link. http://www.thedailybeast.com/love-ch...tarve-to-death It's always good to enjoy the Internet, but you never want to get addicted like those cases.

Comes down to each individual person really. Can't imagine being someone that lets social media run their life.

Social media has, in my opinion, both damaged society AND ****ing ruined the internet. I absolutely loved the internet back when it was more niche and anonymous... forums, chat rooms, silly little home made websites with lots of comic sans.
I sort of lowkey despise it these days. |

Thanks for that - I can completely identify with every word. The times I have felt I have wasted too much time on here when I could be doing more productive things, housework being one of the less pleasant but necessary evils of life, are too many. Hate a disorganised house, just hate the job of keeping it organised - any excuse to keep me from getting on with the job at hand. I think I will take a leaf out of your book today. I have some time off work but lots more important and productive things to do.

I don't think so at all. The art of conversation is not dead, people can still connect without a screen, all that's changed is that it's easier to connect with people now, it's easier to stay in touch.
