I would add Trish to the list of Karcrash, Derek and Shaun. Those 4 leave me cold and not interested in any of them. WHY does Trisha speak SO quickly? It's beyond irritating...

Soap acting always encourages the actors to not really act, it's why imo it's the weakest scripted TV Genre along with a few other issues.

I wouldn't say it encourages them. There are a number of exceptional soap actors.

You're just more likely to get people like Shaun, who play the smaller/sillier characters.

But you get the bad/limited actors in any genre, even in the biggest films in the world.

I suppose you're right, but besides the ones playing Serial Killers/Rapists, I tend to find that Soap actors are more likely to attract a Shaun than most other genres.
