The charity shops round here are terrible, some of the stuff they try to sell for more than the stuff is to buy new.

One of them does furniture too and there was a table we saw that we fancied and the shop had it on for 150 quid, turned out the same table was brand new in argos for 75. So a double markup, for second hand stuff
