Depends on a few factors tbh. If I was with my wife / kids I'm afraid I'd just be getting them out of there, no questions asked.

If I was just with friends it depends again; if it was a friend they were attacking I would attack. If it was strangers BUT they had children with them, I would attack.

If it was adult strangers, got to be honest and say I'd probably go with self-preservation. Having a family to think about means putting your own safety first, as well as theirs.

I think my natural instincts would want to hit him over the head with the candlestick....but I would probably miss so the next instinct would kick in and I would flee...

Near you is a very heavy solid brass floor candlestick - you glance at it then at the terrorist's back.

Do you:

c) Do nothing and pray that the terrorist does not kill you?

d) Just try to flee?

Honest answers please - though I realise that it is impossible to really KNOW what any of us would really do in such a situation - I' feel sure that I would do a).
Why does this deranged pyscho automatically have to be shouting in "Arabic" ? . Isn't that just stereotypical , I know it happens but it still sends out a negative image as some people ignorantly get the wrong impression of religion & different cultures .

Knife crime full stop is a problem , and this attack could be terrorist or just another random horrible attack .

I think we'd all like to think we'd be brave in a fantasy world, I think I'd only lash out if I was directly in the firing line but then again I don't know until I'm in that position.

The first human response is to panic and run . People usually get survival guilt when they do that but it's a natural reaction .

In this senario he is an Arabic terrorist, if it makes you feel better he can be a cockney fruit and veg seller who has lost his nut?

That gives me an idea Sheriff:

OK - The guy with the knife is a Pearly King and he threatens everyone with it that they must watch his performance and applaud or else. Then he goes into a one hour long 'Knees Up' whilst singing a medley of; 'Boiled Beef 'n Carrots', 'Knees Up Muvver Brown', 'My Old Man' and 'Underneath The Arches'.

Surely you can see the point i'm making

I don't care what the terrorist or the attacker looks like , but i'm just saying that's all . Plus who's to say he'd even say anything in another language he might just start stabbing people in a frenzy attack without any warning as random attacks are usually like that .

My husband is super mindful of things like this all the time (anyone walking in with a weapon, etc). He must sit where he can see the doors at all times... in the police academy, they're trained to reverse their vehicles into parking spots for similar reasons... comes with his job where that becomes second nature. He is usually armed...

I think I would do D, because my husband will run me through various scenarios like what I would do in XYZ situation, who I would call, where would I go if I couldn't go home for some reason... he does this all the time and ask me what I might do. I don't have very good answers for some of those or I just know I would be more of a danger to myself than help others... in this scenario, I'm low in upper body strength (working on that now), so probably me hitting them is not going to knock them out ... but I can react very quickly to situations with a solid plan and am great at communicating and making orders, speaking up, and getting people's attention. I don't freeze up I've learned. I've been literally chased down by a crazy man that looked like Carrot Top with a red truck through a parking lot... I've been stalked and solicited in shops... so I tend to fight more than flight I think as I grew up in inner city... so kind of used to having to be hyper vigilant and be an asshole when needed and listen for my gut feeling...

So probably D, I would call 911 ASAP and warn bystanders... as well as call/locate friends & family who I know are working the area (who are also cops). And honestly, just pray for the best... I'd like to say I could be a hero, but a hero I wouldn't be in that scenario... now, if it were my husband, he'd just shoot him dead. He has been in situations where people could've stabbed him... and he's told me all the things that fly through his head in those situations... also, been on the court stand where an inmate brought in several shivs they didn't catch... thankfully caught the last ones before they brought him into court.

The problem is, there is not a lot of terrorists to choose from!.

I can see where you are coming from but in the same way being Irish does not make you a member of the Ira.

One thing a saw a few months back that saw me seriously consider knocking a guy out or calling the police was.

A guy comes into McDonald's with a ruck sack sticking out from the back of that ruck sack was what was clearly designed to look like the handle of a Samaria sword, it took me a long time to see the bottom was actually an umbrella.

I then thought what moron to be walking around with that in these unpredictable times.

Well, I'm sorry Goldheart, but I do NOT see the point you are making. I chose a hypothetical situation for this light-hearted 'quiz' and gave no particular thought to what type of terrorist would be in the scenario but SIMPLY used a Muslim Terrorist for NO other reason than that they ARE the most prolific killers currently blighting civilisation and therefore in the news more often and therefore are a logical choice as they are in our consciousness more than other terrorists.

It is a fact that 'off-the-top-of-my-head' I cannot even think of any other type of terrorist and it did NOT occur to me to indulge in any type of research to try to ascertain any other type of terrorist because I did not envisage that ANYONE would find anything to object to in a simple light-hearted quiz.

I have no time for 'Political Correctness' so I make NO apologies for depicting my terrorist in my fictional scenario as a Muslim Terrorist because not only do Islamic Terrorists exist, they are also THE most prolific ACTIVE terrorists on the planet.

I would like to think a) but I would imagine shock may set in and many would freeze including me probably.

If people could get past that and realise that there is strength in numbers and if most people, as a group, acted together to overpower the cowards instead of running - the scumbags would be far less likely to try it again if they knew people were going to fight back in large numbers.
