Yeah maybe ,but in his eyes Sally can do no wrong which makes him take her side. I also think he's close to his mum and probably sees Sally as his second mum .

it's something my brother would have said tbh because he's been bought up old fashioned, to open doors for women, to pay for the dates, to never comment on a womans body (yes including a bunion lol) but nowadays that is looked down upon for some strange reason, as if it's insulting to women for a man to try and be a gentleman
