It'll be weird of Ponyta is the Shield equivalent to Sir'fetchd though since the latter is a new evolution while the former is a regional form. i would have assumed they would give an old non-evolving pokemon a new evolution to go along with Sir and have an exclusive regional form for Sword (like how Sun and Moon had Vulpix and Sandshrew as exclusives).

What does Gamefreak have against Meowth? First they shaded the **** out of him with Alolan Persian and now that monstrosity.

I do agree that gigantamaxing doesn't look particularly interesting. I'd have preferred it if they just expanded on mega evolution.

It looks like they've taken mega evos and Z moves and mashed them together to make whatever this mess is.. I get that they like to keep competitive play interesting to those who play competitively, but surely there must be better ways about it than this..

and im assuming they've given Pikachu and Meowth one so it can tie in with the anime at some point.

the gigantimax forms are Machamp, Garbodor, Kingler, Lapras and a few new pokemon.

the grey spikey thing is Galarian Meowth and the thing next to it is apparently a galarian evolution for Meowth, its part Steel type
