If kids aren't doing the work at home then that's on them and the parents. A teacher can't make a child do the work at home and this ex-headteacher sounds like a dick.

Tbf for primary school kids it is SQUARELY on the parents/guardians. Teenagers you could expect some personal accountability but it's unrealistic to expect an actual kid to do school work at home without prompting. And sometimes it's not even simply "not prompting" - there are parents who are just like "nah don't bother". We've been lucky in that my eldest is more than capable of doing her work without assistance, but she definitely would have happily sat there on YouTube all day if she hadn't been "gently reminded" to get her work submitted first.

Tbh who wouldn't want to go in a blaze of what they consider glory if they feel hard done by in a given situation

Except she's passing the buck when it comes to responsibility and blaming the teachers when she should probably be working with parents to figure out why their kids didn't do the work.

She was the headteacher who is due to leave the school in a few weeks .. sounds like she was settling a few old scores with some of her staff and it’s completely backfired... it’s so disappointing to hear stories like this surfacing after all the weeks we’ve spent risking our lives ( and families) ‘caring’ for all the key worker kids and vulnerable children !
