¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A lot of her music isn't really made to sound mournful or poignant, so it's hard to listen to her in the same manner today, but I guess that was her strength too: her production was so unique and so confident that it just felt like listening to something empowering. It wouldn't have been everyone's cup of tea - PC Music is, by design, loud, shrill and almost destructive - but to electronic, dance and pop fans she's been a breath of fresh air and really broken moulds. I also remember there being a huge "moment" with the drop of the 'It's OK to Cry' music video; no one really knew who she was, or rather was able to put a face to her prior to that video, so to see her step out of the shadows and fully embrace her identity was so uplifting and - I'd imagine - a pivotal moment in trans history. I've seen so, so many trans and nonbinary people on Twitter today absolutely stunned and feeling like they've lost an icon, and it breaks my heart.
I made a thread about her 7 years ago ![]() And some other favourites...
