There's absolutely no reason that they should feel like they should have funded it themselves. They've been shamed into an apology having done nothing at all wrong.

Bookies have been making record profits online throughout the pandemic. So much so that now shops are reopening with full refurbs in some places.

Guess what?

90% of the retail staff was furloughed for most of a year. If my maths is right, the cost is likely to have been in the hundreds of millions of £££.

But the press goes after individuals running a small business with one staff member furloughed?

You couldn't make it up.

Most of them have made no attempt to pay any of the furlough back, despite making more money despite the pandemic.
