Without meaning to be offensive.

But in what reality is Holly & Philip's controversy anywhere near as bad as Clarkson inciting violence against an individual that he doesn't like?

I know that the 2020's has a warped sense of morality in certain areas, but come on!

This is what happens when you’re vile to people for clout and then fail to take responsibility or accountability.

Pack that gammon back to market

The problem with Clarkson is that someone, a long time ago, told him his attempts at coarse humour were funny. That person has alot to answer for. I never liked Top Gear - just not my kind of show. He isnt funny. I cant stand Mini Clarkson Richard Hammond too, James May is OK though.

A lot of people told him it was funny, to be fair, it was pretty standard Council Telly a decade or two ago... he's failed to roll with the times, though. I'm sure he can get a show on TalkTV or one of those other channels aimed at ruddy faced blokes.

The times seem to have aged very oppresively. Too many tyrants around these days wanting their own way.

Amazon told the Telegraph that “any speculation that this has anything to do with anything like that [Harry and Meghan] is nonsense.”

I'm not really into cancel culture.

However inciting violence isn't really unjust to sack Clarkson unlike some cancel culture stuff.

If anyone attacked her then that would be because they're crazy moron's, not because Clarkson wrote a piece in a small column of a UK newspaper.

Boris had much worse said against in on the front pages and on the television over and over again last year. Were those people inciting violence or just having their opinion?

When Clarkson commits an act of violence on her himself (an actual crime) then let the law do its job, until then, let the man have his rights to freedom the same as the rest of us.

I agree with you actually that if someone were to harm Meghan physically, then they are the one that should be held responsible by the law.

However Clarkson knows that Meghan has some (not all) but some crazy detractors out there, that don't need much of a push to try to harm Meghan, so his words do carry quite a bit of weight when he is bringing one of GOT's most serious scenes into his so called joke/rant.

And anyone wishing harm to Boris is disgusting as well, there are far worse people in Politics than Boris Johnson.

You're seriously comparing a Comedic Kids Cartoon that makes it very clear that it's absurd, to a rant by Jeremy Clarkson that has no punchline or detection of humour to it at all, despite him trying to claim that it's the GOT reference.

Yeah i'm also fed up of people comparing Clarkson's humour as "tongue in cheek" . This grotesque man has form when it comes to being controversial & tasteless ,he knows what he's doing...this isn't a "mistake" or just a "joke" . He's always been a pr1ck.

It wasn't tongue in cheek I agree.
He chose the wording because HE meant every word.
His history of hateful commenting goes back much further than just this latest vindictive spouting of his intense dislike of someone.

There'd have been no apology of any sort had there been no or hardly any backlash.

The backlash is because even some of those who are furious with Harry and his wife, are sickened by the words he CHOSE to use and rightly have reacted with some decency to condemn his chosen written outburst.

I can't stand him.
I've never liked anything about him over many years.
He's just a vile horrible bigot.
For me, it's sad anyone like him gets rewarded with TV work and has given to him any media outlets for his hateful ranting.

He can say what he likes in private and to the friends ?? who find his bile in any way amusing.
I'm just glad this time, more decent people have stood up to condemn and complain.
Time ITV listened to them too rather than be seen to be supporting him.

All I hope for him is he's taken off and denied any official media work.
Let him rant despicably all he likes to HIMSELF.

I find it funny how you defend him , the bloke has a record of this type of stuff. This wasn't just a 'joke' or a 'one off' . Anyway his miserable mug ...is still on TV ,so it hasn't affected him has it now ??.So I guess his fans can rejoice in his arrogance.

Exactly.

It's what he gets paid for doing, but now we all have to suddenly be outraged when his words over step some peoples boundaries.

Sorry, but I found the piece both amusing and tongue in cheek.

there is always an outlet of one form or another for anyone that is in any way popular. People seem to be misguided in that they think ITV and newspapers are large reaching outlets, they're not, not compared to the massive reach across the internet from a million different media sources

The people that find it funny or aren’t that bothered because it was a ‘joke’ are also the same types of people that would be up in arms if the exact same thing was said about someone they like, that’s what it boils down to, they dislike Meghan so much that they find any negative thing said about her funny, even if it’s an angry middle aged man fantasising about committing public sexual violence against her, that’s where we are as a society

Nah, I reckon most people would laugh if it was as well worded as Clarksons was. I know I did with trump and boris when I read or watched satirical stuff.

So I dont think your crystal ball is accurate this time Liam.

And where we are as a society is paedos now being called minor attracted persons so they can be seen as more acceptable in society. That's where you should be aiming your angst..not at some people finding some old blokes words funny.
