The only issue with being fat is...
As happy as you may be, it can restrict you from certain activities.

It also effects your health, and could knock a few years off your life.
You might not care now, but when you're older and you die at the age of lets say 71? whereas if you'd stayed slim and healthy and lived until 85? you'll wish you could have had an extra fourteen years im sure.

I find it funny how some "fat" people are taking offense from the question...
Nobody insulted you, or remarked on your weight...just purely asked the question, which you chose to answer.

People who are fat without the excuse of family/glandular problems, are usually people with issues. Comfort eating is the most common reason why people are fat, closely followed by people who just eat too much and are lacking a life. Which results in barely any exercise/walking/activity.
It does depend in which situation you are, you can't blame a fat person for being offensed by that question, it's normal. I've been like them and I've been offenced and sad when I watched a topic on tv and stuff.
It's not an insult, it's just something you would like to not talk about.

There is a difference between people like Billy who don't want to loose anything and I, who had so many problems in the life and finally did find a paradise in food and stuff.

People don't eat like that for pleasure, I can confirm you as I work a lot with these people and normally they had loads of problems.

People like Billy are proud and it's good for them, however they have to be careful for the health.

Exactly Billy and I don't what to say after reading your speechs, well done to you, you made a choice that some people don't understand.
People are more aware and more tolerant towards fat people, I hope they don't annoy you.

And I personally can't stand using that word "fat". For me it's not great.

i agree slimmer is better and being fat has many other bad things as well as health problems, remember Pete Waterman's opinion of Michelle Mcmanus winning Pop idol, all he saw was the size of her and ignored her vocal talent

he was thinking through his bank balance at the time and he was right, where is she now

I think I am, for my height and everything. I keep meaning to do something about it... But then judging by the stuff I eat, I should probably be fatter.

If you want to loose some kilos, you have to want it. It's your own decision, nobody has to altere it trust me I know what I'm talking about.
Go to your doctor and this one will give you more infos.

Gemmer...
If you're 5ft 5 and 7 stone...and think you're overweight, you best be careful.

If one day you decide to try and lose a stone because you think you're fat, you'll be underweight if anything. And it could cause you serious harm.

Sunshine30 I know what you're saying. But some people are bullied for being tall, yet if someone asked the question "are you tall?" in the forum, I wouldn't be offended by it. Even though im 6ft 4. So when a fat person does take offense, it is mainly due to the fact they're a little insecure that they're bigger.

In todays world, there's lots of people announcing that they prefer larger people anyway. And Billy, if you're healthy then that's good =] I have no idea how overweight you actually are so I obviously have no idea if your weight causes you any problems or not.

But it seems to be in people's best interest to stay of an average weight.
Too skinny/Too fat will seriously effect you when you're older.

Even healthy average people suffer many problems when they're of a certain age. Just standing up or walking around can have a strain on you. So throwing over/under weight into the situation could have bad results.

So yea, in short, all im saying is that people who are over/under weight have plenty of time to do something about it now, so that they don't suffer later. You don't have to listen to what im saying, but you may benefit from it when you're older.

You don't want to wake up in 40yrs with serious health problems, feeling pain every day of your life and being on a wide range of tablets, just because you couldn't be bothered to do anything 40yrs earlier.

It's based on self-perception though really. I'm not thin.
And sunshine30, you're completely right - it requires a lot of self-motivation and nobody but the people themselves who want to lose weight can do it.

I know, I'm not saying that only fat people are bullied but it's normal that people find it offensive. And of course, fat people are insecure, then they wouldn't be fat, only and only if they don't want it.

For Billy, I have to say, don't listen anyone except your doctor, it's a story between him and you. That's your choice and well done for that choice.
