Dude this show is a reality show/social experiment, it's about how long they can survive in a house without no entertainment and with lots of conflict without getting voted our or walking. 8 weeks is no challenge.

12 is just right, 12 is 84 days which is 3 months exactly. Not too long, not too short, a challenge, but not impossible.
