Peter Kay is just the funniest man ever, I could watch his stand up DVDs everyday and still find it funny. But I also love Russell Brand and his radio show producer Matt. Noel Fielding for his randomness and JLC and Alan Carr make a great double act.

I'm not a fan of Peter Kay, he's too repetitive.

I watched, sorry endured a Peter Kay DVD. I did not crack a smile once. Shouting in a northern accent is not funny in it's self.

Lee Evans is evil. He just puts on silly voices and faces.

Peter Kay is alright the first time you watch, but then when you see other so called routines its still all garlic bread.

Physical, yes. Comedy? Very debatable. But then I never found Norman Wisdom funny, and Evens is just a Wisdom tribute act.

Generalising it , yes , it is comedy. He is one of the most successful comics working in Britian today. He is far , far down on my list , but I still understand his greatness. I just dont relate to it perhaps as well as others.

Gurn, fall over. Thank you, I've been Lee Evans. Goodnight.

There, just saved anyone thinking of going to see him £30.

"He is one of the most successful comics working in Britian today."

Success does not always equate to quality. The most successful male solo artist
of the 80's was not any of the truly talented and innovative ones. Jackson? no. Prince? No. Peter Gabriel? No. Shakin' Stevens? I kid you not. Bloody Shakey.

In the Stand Up business though , it can be a useful barometer. Live crowds of thousands are going to see him. Im under the assumption that they are going to see him in order to laugh. Which they do. Alot. That equates to him doing something very , very right in my eyes.

Im not a big fan of his style , but their is more to it than the whole falling over act you described. A lot more.

Little Miss Jocelyn got a second series. As I say, success does not always equate to quality.

If success was equal to quality, then Peter Kay is apparently the funniest man ever

Methinks not.

Again , of course it always does not equate to quality , but people are paying to see him live , and laugh at the man. That means he is doing something right. Maybe not in your opinion , heck , not in mine either, but I respect that he is doing something right.

The vague description you gave of his act , however , is unfair.

Posting a specific clip to support 'Gurn, fall over. Thank you, I've been Lee Evans. Goodnight.' hardly counts as an argument. Their are other Lee Evans clips on youtube , after all .

Some people find it funny. I dont , but im not going to argue with them , because he draws enough to merit me saying 'Damn , I gotta respect that guy. I cant relate to what he is doing , but some people find it funny'.

Now compare that to 'Gurn, fall over. Thank you, I've been Lee Evans. Goodnight.'.

The thing is I did not have to look very hard to find the clip. It is what his act is based on. You say that yourself "it is physical comedy"

Did you respect Bernard Manning. Do you respect Chubby brown? Plenty of people found/find their brand of racist "humour" funny.

Hitler was not a comedian. Neither are you. So stop trying to dilute the argument.

Chubby Brown and Bernard Manning are a different story altogether in fairness. But people still find it funny. That , I will never know why. I still recognise that they used to make people laugh , however.

I dont have a problem with you not liking Lee Evans , neither do I , I just think you are being ignorant about it just a tad. An iguana could tell that their is more to his act that falling around. You can stop any internal dialogue because thats a fact.

I love how a comedy thread has turned into an argument. Now that's comedy to me. :P

Also, I'd like to pick up on this post from the poster formerly known as Morpheus:

That must make a pleasant change from some of the other viewing material in your collection.

You left that one wide open - innuendo count (+1)
