For want of a better phrase here, I'm playing "devils advocate" and questioning why someone is so quick to label it as "weird" and "wrong" just because the majority does.
As far as I know, general practising devil worshippers are not violent and do not commit sacrifices like the general misconceptions of it suggest. So why is it wrong?

Similarly, 30 years ago - homosexuality was labelled as "wrong" just because it was different too.

Nope. One of my mates told me.
I see, thats a shame.

Maybe there will be something on Google news?

(I'll have to learn how to do nested quotes)

anyhow,
Perhaps the perception of Devil worship is what people think of from watching films like the Omen and the Exorcist. Even the theme tune to the X-Factor, (Camina Burana - Karl Orff, I think his name is?) is hinting to us watching that there is something quite devilish about it all. Well, thats just Simon But seriously, it is just how people perceive it and from that perception alone, the actual thought of someone worshipping the Devil will be the worst taboo of all.

I think it's like I say above. Most people don't like something which they don't understand and also the tie-in with those fictional movies, which is silly I realise.

But there is also the faith and belief in God/Jesus and worshipping the opposite of God/Jesus, ie: Devil/anti-christ would be like a Buddhist worshipping the god of war.

I know it was labelled wrong, but today Gay is very much a part of every day life and Celebrities such as Elton John have brought it upto what it is today, but the same can't be said about Devilworshipping, as that in my opinion shall continue to remain something which the majority shall keep at bay

I don't get why worshiping the devil is so bad, just because it is different? If devil worshipers don't pose a thread to society then let them carry on, the same goes for everyone who worships different things.
I think all people who worship God or the Devil or anything like that are stupid but I don't care if they do, its not hurting me
Just because it goes against the majority it doesn't make it wrong. I think as the years go by the belief in God, the devil and anything like that will decline anyway.

I keep reading this expression which makes me b****y angry." Respect other peoples beliefs". Why on earth should anyone expect another person to respect a belief they do not believe in.

What people should respect is an individuals right to believe what they want....It is insane to expect people to respect the content of a belief automatically simply because someone thinks they should.

The crusades et al, were started by people greedy for wealth who got a complicit and corrupted RC church to give it some kind of veneer of respectability.

If you look at the teachings of Christianity, you will find no justification for what was done, and in some parts, teaching the opposite of using physical weapons.

Of course, most of what you know about the Devil comes from the Bible. Written by God's lot. You must admit that they have a vested interest.

Have you heard the Devils side of the story? The constant pain he lives in. The people he has to mix with, being given great powers by God and then being berated for using them. That has to suck. No wonder he is pissed off and mixes it up a bit. He is a bit like a French farmer in that respect. They don't take no ****.

If you want to get his side of the story then I suggest you have a read of I, Lucifer. A fantastic and funny read.

What colour hair do you have Always_Right? Do you have a left-sided fringe at all?

I’m only asking ‘cause you seem to have an unhealthy obsession with devil worship… and all this “Ooh it’s just sick & disgusting!” only serves to strengthen my belief in that.

From: http://www.allabouttheoccult.org/satan-worship.htm

“ The initial signs of a teen’s involvement in Satan worship include a drastic drop of grades, unusual angry outbursts, dying hair color to black, wearing bangs over the left eye, moodiness, severe depression, bazaar drawings in journals, obsessions with death & writing complete $hite on the internet… ”

What kind of devil worshippers are you talking about anyway?

Dark Pagans? Theistic Satanists? Luciferians? 15 year old goth kids trying to be rebellious?

Personally I’ve often thought of applying to join the Church of Satan as many of their beliefs make perfect sense to me. If it wasn’t for the joining fee I probably would have by now.

I especially like their belief that Satan, the Devil, God, Angels, Heaven & Hell are all bollock$ and things only stupid people believe in.

Well, I dont question what you believe in (nothing?) as it is none of my buisness, ergo, why should I stick my nose into your buisness and tell you what to do

Listen, watch the movie before you comment on it. Carrie in no way worshiped the devil in any way shape or form. I can't believe you just used Carrie as a support for your ignorant views on Satanism!

Black hair, it matches my top hat

I used to have a fringe but it had a fight with a pair of scissors and lost

You amuse me

I'd love to know how you base that opinion from "Ooh it's just sick & disgusting". Thats hardly connected to an unhealthy obsession now is it?

Quite an interesting write up. I like the part about writing complete **** on the internet

"What kind of devil worshipping am I talking about"

I haven't really given in much thought

Don't let me stop you. So far as I'm concerned it's the wrong way to go, but each to their own I guess

You're right. Your views are non-existent. Well, they must be considering you had to use Carrie as an example when you "know" it has nothing to do with your argument.

Most of you are all just about 100% wrong.

Legitimate, modern Satanists do not worship the devil at all. They are atheists who profess that all religion is theatre, but they are the only ones to admit it. They use 'Satan' as a mere metaphor to represent the darker side of human impulse.

It is more a philosophy than a theistic religion per say. Actual, honest to god people who worship an actual, honest to god, three headed beast under the ground are all but extinct, showing up in Take A Break magazine once every four years with some ''Danny shaved the symbol of baphomet into my cat, Tabby Tummy!'' story.

They have an official website, if you want to find out more. I personaly believe you can practise everything they profess without signing up, which makes it a useless endevour, but it is interesting stuff nontheless.

*applauds* Thanks for posting that. The way people were going on about stuff they have no idea about was getting annoying
